This qualification is designed for learners who wish to progress to higher or supervisory level within a food business.

Topics include ensuring compliance with food safety legislation, the application and monitoring of good hygiene practice, how to implement food safety management procedures and the application and monitoring of good practice regarding contamination, microbiology and temperature control.

On completion of the e-learning, candidates can sit a remotely invigilated exam to achieve one of the following accredited qualifications:

  • Highfield Level 3 Award in Food Safety for Catering
  • Highfield Level 3 Award in Food Safety for Manufacturing
  • Highfield Level 3 Award in Food Safety for Retail
  • Highfield Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety at Sea

Guided Learning hours

The total qualification time for the Level 3 Award is 20 – 25 hours. Approximately 9 – 14 hours are required to complete the e-learning and the remainder of learning would be completed reading  the handbook or reviewing the e-learning course.

Form of Assessment

LEVEL 3 AWARD

On completion of the e-learning courses, learners will sit an exam at a convenient time which is invigilated remotely. There are 45 multiple-choice questions. The passmark is 66%, with a Merit being awarded to learners achieving 80%. Learners will receive an e-certificate for one of the following qualifications:

  • Highfield Level 3 Award in Food Safety for Catering
  • Highfield Level 3 Award in Food Safety for Manufacturing
  • Highfield Level 3 Award in Food Safety for Retail
  • Highfield Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety at Sea

LEVEL 3 FOOD SAFETY E-LEARNING ONLY

Learners are assessed at the end of the course by multiple-choice questions. Learners will receive a Highfield e-learning completion certificate, which is downloadable upon successfully finishing the course
